Best Way to Install a Virtual Machine in Windows 10

If you want to run more than one operating system(Ubuntu, Linux, Mac) in your PC or laptop then you can easily run another operating system by a virtual machine. You can have separate hard drives for each operating system. Also, you can generate multiple virtual machines, means you can run Windows 10, Linux, Ubuntu, Mac and other operating systems and change promptly between them.

A virtual machine is known as having a second PC or laptop. It’s not a physical thing, it's software. It allows to you run operating system or app without risk. On a virtual machine, you can install any operating system of your choice. Plus thing it's compatible and reliable software. The benefits of a virtual machine are that you can run a new operating system without affecting your main (host) operating system, or install and test apps without affecting your real Windows 10 installation.

Second important is that you'll need a free hard drive space to install the operating system. When you create VM, VirtualBox will suggest how much space and memory you need, based on the OS you're installing.

Step 1: Open your choice web browser and go through this link(https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads). Once you are on the Download VirtualBox page, now click on the "Windows hosts" link.

Step 2: When the download Virtualbox pop-up appears on the screen, then click on "Save File".

Step 3: In your browser, click on the icon that opens the download folder(or open your downloaded files get saved.)

By default, most browsers will save your downloads in the download folder.

Step 4: Open your download folder, right-click on the Virtualbox installer after that click on "Run as administrator".

Step 5: After following the above mentioned steps, if you see the following User Account Control window, then click on the "Yes" to continue the installation.

Step 6: When you see the VirtualBox setup wizard appears on your screen, click on "Next".

Step 7: Here you can choose a different location by clicking "Browse" on the custom setup window.

Also, you can choose which components get installed by clicking the drop-down arrow next to each feature.

After your selection click on the "Next".

Step 8: Here now you have four options to select in this window. These are: Create start menu entries, Create a shortcut on a desktop, Create a shortcut in the Quick Launch Bar, and Register file associations.

Place a checkmark on the options which you want, after this process clicks on the "Next".

Step 9: Now your network connection will be temporarily disabled during the installation.
Note: Don't take tension as this is standard & your internet will work after the installation process.

Step 10: After all processes click on "Install" on the Ready to install window.

Step 11: When you see the following security window, then click on "Install" to continue.

Step 12: When the installation process is complete, click on the "Finish" to close the setup wizard.

Now I'm going to describe to you how to create a Virtual Machine on Windows 10. Follow the below mentioned steps:

Step 1: Now, continue from the previous steps, VirtualBox should be open. If it's not open then install it from either the desktop or start menu.

Step 2: Here, add a descriptive name for the new virtual machine, as well as choose the type and version of operating system you're going to install.

After fill three fields, click on the "Next" to continue.

Step 3: VirtualBox will recommend how much memory you should choose based on your OS.

Note: You can leave this default or add some additional memory. Click on the "Next" after setting the memory.

Step 4: Here on the hard disk window, you can select an existing virtual hard disk file or create a new virtual hard disk. After select click on the "Create" to complete the process.

Step 5: Now select VDI(VirtualBox Disk Image) from the list, Click on the "Next".

Step 6: Again you can leave this to the default setting and click on the "Next" to continue.

Step 7: Now add the name of new virtual hard disk file and again go with the recommended size. Click on the "Create" to continue.

Step 8: Open the VirtualBox Manager, choose the VM you just created, then click on the "Start".

Step 9: In the Select start-up disk window, click on the folder icon, then operate to and open the ISO or DVD containing the operating system you want to run on your VM.

Step 10: With selected ISO or DVD, click on the "Start" and Operating system will be installed on your virtual machine.

Step 11: Once the operating system is fully installed, you can see it just like any other app.

Step 12: To shut down your VM, click the File menu and select "Close" and then "Power off".

Step 13: Now turn on your Virtual Machine, then right-click it from the file manager, choose "Start", then "Normal Start".

Step 14: If you want to delete your VM, choose it from the manager, right-click then choose "Remove...".

Step 15: When you want to remove a VM from VirtualBox, then you can select to either "Delete all files" or "Remove only".
